Sarabeswara Ashtakam is an 8 verse hymn addressing Sarabeswara or Sarabeswaramurthi, who is the “Sharabha” form of Lord Shiva. Sarabha is a mythical creature, that is half-Lion and half-bird, which is said to be more powerful than a Lion or an elephant. According to Shaiva scriptures, Lord Shiva assumed the Sharabha form to pacify the Narasimha avatar of Lord Vishnu. However, this narration is refuted by Vaishnavas.
