Varuthini Ekadashi, is the ekadasi day which falls in the Krishna Paksha of the month of Vaishakh. This festival is considered very auspicious to Lord Vishnu. It is believed that if one fasts on this day and worships Lord Vishnu with devotion, all sins are destroyed and immense wealth and salvation are attained. In the year 2026, this Varuthini Ekadashi falls on April 13. It is believed that if one fasts and worships on this day, one gets the result of donating a thousand cows.

“Varuthini” means “protected” or “armored”, symbolizing divine protection. This festival is mentioned in the Bhavishya Purana. It is considered highly auspicious for removing past sins (karma). It is believed that observing this Ekadashi protects devotees from adversities, negativity and help them progress spiritually.
How Varuthini Ekadashi is observed
- Fasting (complete or with less food) should be observed
- Lord Vishnu should be worshipped, especially his Vamana avatar.
- Chanting the mantra “Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya” is auspicious.
